Oliver Lim

Oliver's remarkable journey into leadership is deeply influenced by his personal experience as a young individual battling a chronic illness, having been diagnosed with Lupus SLE as a toddler. This medical condition posed numerous challenges, forcing him to spend significant time away from school. There were moments when his health teetered on the edge, leading him to undergo experimental procedures like Plasmapheresis and treatments like Ocrelizumab, previously untested on children.  Throughout his journey, Oliver confronted not only the medical complexities but also the social and emotional hardships associated with his condition. His facial difference and appearance sometimes made him the target of stares, hurtful comments, and even bullying.  However, Oliver's remarkable strength and unwavering determination have transformed him into an inspiring leader. He utilises his lived experiences to empower other young individuals facing similar struggles. His leadership qualities encompass confident public speaking, driven advocacy for positive change on behalf of young people with disabilities, and an unshakably positive outlook on life. Oliver is the embodiment of resilience and a beacon of hope for those he inspires.
